My thanks to Ana of Well Appointed Desk for the ink sample. Frankly Blue isn’t quite blue. At least to my eyes, it’s bordering on teal. It shades well even in my Japanese fine nib, going from a dark teal to a muted teal. Frankly blue is a dry ink with flair. I really enjoy…

Chesterfield is a now discontinued line of inks. It belongs to xFountainpens and that company is now no longer in operation. That being said Antique Copper is a good shading brown ink. It’s a bright ink, not quite corporate enough to fly under the radar. It goes from an almost orange-brown to a strong reddish-brown.…
My thanks to Ana of Well Appointed Desk for the ink sample. This is an interesting shade of red-pink ink. It shades well even in my EF Lamy nib. And yes it does reminds me of the watermelon shade of red. it’s a joyful colour that stands out against the paper. It goes from a…
I got this ink sample a while back and I’m sorry I took such a long time to get around to it. Diamine Amber straddles the line between yellow and orange in a way I really like. It shades even in my Visconti EF nib though only subtly. It’s such a bright and happy colour…
This is another TY Lee Exclusive ink made by De Atramentis. It’s another scented blue ink. It’s fragrance is lightly floral and not too overwhelming. Comparing it with Hu Shi, another blue De Atramentis TY Lee Exclusive, it looks rally similar. Personally I’ve no idea why there is a need for two such similar inks.…
My thanks to Glenn for the ink sample. Platinum Citrus Black is an iron gall ink and that means it’s waterproof. I found Citrus Black to be an incredibly dry ink. In my Platinum 3776 SM, it was so dry it squeaked as I write. Did a mouse died in my pen? Obviously not. Turns…
My thanks to Glenn for sending me a sample of the ink. Yamabuki Iro is a blend of yellow and green. Now normally, this blend of colours is right up my alley. But not this one. This is giving me Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-Ho vibes. And I really do not like Ina-Ho at all. Yamabuki Iro…
My thanks to Glenn for sending me a sample of the ink. Caran D’Ache Idyllc Blue is a lubricated blue ink that screams corporate to me. It shades a little subtly. Personally, I’m not a fan of straight up blue inks and this qualifies. However don’t let that stop you if you enjoy it. Caran…
View fullsize This is one of the Pilot Iroshizuku ink made specially for Pilot’s 100th anniversary. Daikokuten is a bright yellow ink that shades nicely from a sunshine yellow to a yellow-orange colour when it pools. I really enjoy how bright and happy this colour is. It is surprisingly visible against bright white paper. Sadly…
